Place Value Pop
Pilot digit bubbles into place-value chambers aboard the Sky Number Laboratory.
Ready to play.
How to play
- Choose a difficulty, a flight length, an optional practice category, and a control mode, then start the flight.
- Read the challenge card: it names a place, a value, a build request, a decimal placement, a power-of-ten shift, a comparison, or a rounding landmark.
- Select a floating digit bubble, then place it into the matching place-value chamber. You can drag, tap the bubble then tap the column, use Step Placement buttons, or use the keyboard.
- Watch the place-value machine light each chamber and show the value that digit represents.
- Press Check when the machine shows your answer, or follow on-screen choice buttons for comparison and classification rounds.
- Use lab tools such as Column Beacon, Expanded View, Zero Guide, Decimal Lens, or Shift Preview when a number is hard to read; each tool has limited uses.
- Keep placements accurate to raise the airship calibration streak and unlock the next sky region.
- Start counting places from the ones place for whole numbers, or from the first place to the right of the decimal for tenths, hundredths, and thousandths.
Learning goals
- Identify the digit in a named place from ones through millions and from tenths through thousandths.
- Distinguish a digit identity from the value that digit represents.
- Build standard-form numbers from expanded place-value terms, including zero placeholders.
- Expand standard-form numbers into place-value terms.
- Place a decimal point so a spoken or written description matches the exact decimal model.
- Shift digits left or right when multiplying or dividing by powers of ten using exact scale changes.
- Compare and order decimals and whole numbers with aligned place-value columns.
- Round numbers to a named place using consistent half-up place-value landmarks.
- Repair numbers with missing digits and explain why zero preserves place.
About this game
Place Value Pop takes place aboard the Sky Number Laboratory, where a fleet of number airships collects floating digit bubbles and locks them into glowing place-value chambers. Challenges ask you to find a digit in a named place, name the value a digit represents, build standard and expanded forms, place decimal points, shift digits by powers of ten, compare and order numbers, round to place-value landmarks, insert missing digits, and keep zero placeholders honest. Eight sky regions change the backdrop and challenge mix as your airship calibration streak rises. Large digit bubbles, labeled chambers, Step Placement and Guided Chart control modes, educational tools, and a real in-game tutorial keep the laboratory playable with a mouse, a touchscreen, or a keyboard alone.
Controls: mouse-touch-keyboard. Scores are verified before appearing on the public leaderboard. Read how scoring works.
